This Privacy Policy explains how the Homelessness Education and Training Technical Assistance Center (“HETAC,” “we,” “us”), a program of the Supportive Housing Providers Association of Illinois (SHPA), collects, uses, and protects information you provide through this website. It applies to this public website only; the HETAC partner portal has its own terms.

We only collect information you choose to give us through the website’s forms:

• Contact form — your name, email address, organization, the role you select, and your message.
• Peer directory signup — the details you enter in the signup form (such as name, contact information, location, areas of lived experience, and participation preferences).
• Newsletter signup — your email address.

Like most websites, our hosting provider may also automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this site.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit to respond to your inquiry, to consider and contact you about peer involvement opportunities, and to send the newsletter and field updates you signed up for. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to HETAC’s work.

Services we use to handle your information

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the website and communicate with you:

• Supabase — hosts the database and form submissions for HETAC and the partner portal.
• Resend — delivers our email, including contact notifications and the newsletter.
• The HETAC partner portal (app.hetac-il.org) — where peer signups and certain submissions are stored.

These providers process information only to provide their services to us. We encourage you to review their respective privacy practices.

Email and unsubscribing

If you subscribe to the newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us at the address below. We will stop sending you newsletter emails promptly after you opt out.

Data retention

We keep the information you submit only as long as needed for the purpose you provided it — for example, to respond to your message or to keep you on the newsletter list until you unsubscribe — and as required by our records and applicable law.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you’ve submitted, or to stop contacting you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. To make a request, email us at contact@hetac-il.org and we’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information you submit. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

This website is intended for providers, partners, and adults working in the field. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above.
